Here is a list of trusted mental-health resources to help Illinois youth, young adults, and families find support and take the next step.

You do not have to navigate a difficult situation alone. The organizations below can help you find information, support, and professional services.

Need immediate emotional support? Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If you or someone else is in immediate physical danger or experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.

Where to Start

FindSupport.gov — Learn about mental-health, drug, and alcohol support options, how to find professional care, ways to pay for care, and steps you can take to support yourself or someone else.

FindTreatment.gov — Search for mental-health and substance-use treatment facilities by location and type of service.

American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry – Psychiatrist Finder — A search tool for parents and caregivers looking for psychiatrists who provide care to children and adolescents.

HRSA Find a Health Center — Find community health centers that provide medical, dental, and behavioral-health services. Fees may be adjusted based on a patient’s ability to pay.

Local Help Finder - Illinois Resources

These statewide resources can help Illinois youth and families locate behavioral-health services, community programs, and other forms of local assistance.

BEACON Illinois — A centralized Illinois resource that helps youth and families locate behavioral-health services and support programs.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Free and confidential support for people experiencing emotional distress, a mental-health or substance-use crisis, or thoughts of suicide. People may also contact 988 when they are worried about someone else.

Illinois CARES Line

Call 1-800-345-9049
Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
For Illinois children and adolescents experiencing a mental-health crisis, including situations involving concerns about immediate safety or possible need for mobile crisis-response services.

Support Group Finders

Peer and family support groups can provide education, encouragement, and connection. Review each organization’s eligibility, schedule, privacy practices, and participation requirements before registering.

Illinois Warm Line

Available Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Free emotional support, recovery education, self-advocacy assistance, and referrals for people living in Illinois.

The Illinois Warm Line is not a crisis line. For immediate crisis support, call or text 988.

Family-to-Family — A NAMI-based peer program designed for relatives and friends of individuals living with mental illness.
